Technology & Assessment
Good physiotherapy starts with good assessment.
At Louth Physio, we use technology to support clinical decision-making, not to replace it. Objective data helps us understand how your body is performing, track progress over time, and make clearer decisions about rehabilitation and return to activity.
Why Assessment Matters
Pain alone does not tell the full story.
Assessment looks at strength, movement, balance, and how load is managed through the body. This helps identify deficits that may be contributing to pain or increasing injury risk.
VALD Strength and Movement Testing
We use VALD technology to assess strength, asymmetry, and movement capacity where appropriate.
This allows us to:
• Measure strength objectively rather than relying on guesswork
• Identify side-to-side differences
• Track progress throughout rehabilitation
• Guide return-to-work or return-to-sport decisions
Guiding Rehabilitation and Progression
Objective testing helps ensure rehabilitation is progressed at the right pace.
Rather than relying solely on time-based milestones, decisions can be based on how your body is actually performing. This improves confidence and reduces the risk of returning too early or training beyond current capacity.
Not Used for Everyone
Technology is not needed in every case.
Assessment tools are only used where they add value to your care. Clinical judgement always comes first, with technology used to support clearer, more informed decisions.
Part of a Professional Approach
Using assessment technology reflects our commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing improvement.
